Dive into Marine Conservation
Dive into Marine Conservation like nowhere else
For those who are looking for an extensive, science-based, and amazing experience in tropical reef conservation, Blue Corner Marine Research is the best choice. Located just two hours from Ngurah Rai Airport,Bali, Blue Corner Marine Research's headquarters are based on Nusa Lembongan, Bali. The Nusa Islands are part of the Coral Triangle, home to the most diverse coral reefs in the world, with more than 600 species of coral found in the area. Situated 30 minutes boat ride from mainland Bali, Nusa Lembongan boasts stunning and pristine underwater ecosystems. However, some areas have suffered degradation due to past fishing activities and coastal development. For the last decade, Blue Corner Marine Research has been actively working to restore and protect these marine habitats.
Andrew Taylor, founder of Blue Corner Marine Research, is a marine biologist who graduated from James Cook University, Australia—one of the world's leading universities for marine biology. Certified as a Reef Check Course Director, CMAS Advanced Scientific Diver Instructor, and PADI and SSI Master Instructor, Andrew has dedicated more than a decade of his life to marine conservation. He has also delivered numerous lectures around the world.
The organization primarily focuses on restoring coral reefs in the degraded areas of the Nusa Islands. The project has successfully restored and rehabilitated more than 2,000 square meters of coral reef, deploying numerous frames and planting thousands of coral fragments. As a result, marine life has thrived in the restored areas, ranging from a vast diversity of reef fish to larger marine megafauna, including sea turtles and even a baby whitetip reef shark! In January 2025, the team discovered two juvenile whitetip reef sharks inhabiting one of their coral restoration frames.
If you are an ocean lover who wants to take action to help the environment and be part of a meaningful project, Blue Corner Marine Research offers an exciting scientific internship program.

With his knowledge and passion for the ocean he will guide you in gaining scientific field experience and improve your skills underwater. During the internship you will get four informative modules, ranging from interesting tropical reef ecology and biology, to reef health monitoring and coral restoration, all of which include a scientific manual on how to set up, monitor and maintain a conservation project written by Andrew Taylor.
Besides a fun learning environment, you’ll also embark on an incredible underwater adventure, exploring the diverse dive sites of the Nusa Islands. These islands are renowned for their breathtaking coral reefs and rich marine biodiversity. The Nusa Islands are home to manta ray cleaning stations, where manta rays gather year-round.
