Why Diving Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida is Better than Ever
Along with everyone around the world, we are delighted to be ending the year in a much better way than when we started it. Out of lockdowns and back in our favourite place - underwater!
Over the last 12 months we have seen so many positive developments, including a relaxation in travel regulations and our ability to host guests and teach courses, BUT, there is one thing that hasn’t changed at all – our incredible diving!!
This year has been a phenomenal year for all of us at Blue Corner Dive, not only have we been able to get ‘back to normal’, we’ve also been able to re-explore our beautiful surrounding reefs – and they are flourishing!
Here are just a few of our highlights from 2022…
Manta Rays at Manta Point, Nusa Penida
Manta Point on the south coast of Nusa Penida has always been one of our favourite dive sites and 2022 has not failed to deliver. We’ve had incredible manta ray encounters and we’ve been treated to amazing displays of feeding, cleaning and even mating trains. Our resident population of manta rays is one of the highlights of diving Nusa Penida and Lembongan and they are thriving!
Best Ever Mola Season
Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan are among the rare diving destinations in the world where it’s possible to see oceanic sunfish. These marine giants can measure over 3 meters from fin tip to fin tip and are seen seasonally from late July to early November. And 2022 was one of our best seasons yet. Not only did we have sightings in Crystal Bay and at Blue Corner, we had encounters along the north coasts of both Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan.
Sharing Our Love of the Ocean in 2022
One of the biggest privileges we have is introducing more and more people to the underwater world. This year we’ve been sharing our flourishing reefs with new PADI Open Water Divers from around the world. We’ve even had sightings of manta and mola their first open water dives!
PADI Pro Internships
From beginners to Instructors! We love being a part of divers’ journeys to becoming a PADI Pro and we’ve been hosting more Divemaster candidates in 2022. Our 4 week PADI Divemaster Internship is always a lot of fun and it’s incredible seeing people take their first steps on the road to becoming a professional. And the fun hasn’t stopped there. We’ve also been hosting IDC’s again for those wanting to become PADI Instructors. Learn more about our 17 and 22 day Instructor Development Courses here and check out our 2023 IDC dates here.
News from around the Islands
In case you have been wondering how things are following the pandemic we are delighted to say that both Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida are still as stunning as ever. There have been some positive developments too. There are more boat services running from mainland Sanur to Nusa Penida, making it even easier to reach us! As well as existing bars and restaurants (including our own Blue Corner Bar) opening up again, there are new establishments popping up on both islands offering some great choices of cuisine too.
